This morning my friend Neil was telling me the story of Picasso’s painting Guernica and what inspired it. It was created in response to the bombing of Guernica, Basque Country, by German and Italian warplanes at the behest of the Spanish Nationalist forces, on 26 April 1937, during the Spanish Civil War.
Although I am inspired by Picasso standing up for what he believed in I venture to guess what would this look like in today’s world. How would Pablo Picasso use Social Media for Social Change? What could we learn from this great man? The more I think about this I start to engage more and more what a powerful medium art is for a peaceful protest for Social Change Big and Small. How can we engage the artist hiding inside of us to step out of the hypnosis of the status quo? What is wrong in the world today that you feel right now, you could make it better? Don’t be afraid to start with a blank canvass?
