Just the other day I read this quote by Jacque Fresco and it really got me thinking.
“When education and resources are available to all without a price tag, there will be no limit to human potential. With these major alteration, people would eventually live longer, more meaningful and healthier lives. The measure of success would be the fulfillment of one’s individual pursuits rather than the acquisition of wealth, property, and power.” Jacque Fresco
I believe that is ultimately true but not for the current world we are all living in. As much as I look around in the world I have seen lots and lots of people that sub-scribe to this but there is always a price of losing your freedom that cost way more than money. To bring clarity to this argument I would like to state some facts and/or personal beliefs.
Information and Education is only valuable if we value it…We have all seen it people that are just giving everything and they just don’t appreciate it. The truth is that the stuff that is usually readily available it is human nature to not appreciate it.
99.9% of people in the primarily operate off of incentive what is in it for me or what is in it for my family, company, etc. In my experience the best and most clear incentive is money and/or what it can buys us. This is a double edge sword because most of us in some way or another are slaves to money. In the last year I learned that the best way to get someone that hates money to do something is to pay them when I discovered this I couldn’t believe it. If there is one thing that I am good at that is the ability to do nothing and if most of us didn’t have to do anything we would get board, go crazy and self sabotage. We have all heard of people that have retired and they back to work because that is all they enjoy because it sometimes takes years to sustainably unwind our habits as individuals and/or as a society.
Survival- The way that people and animals are similar is we all have the need to survive. Living is a civilized society it appears that it is not as prevalent but it is all around us. If we were to take this need out of the equation I believe we would create additional undue stress, depression and other things that we just don’t have time for now. Imagine this less rules, more freedom and lots of change and uncertainty tell you the trust I don’t believe we are ready for that.
