Yet, what if there was a different way to enjoy your morning cup of joe? A process that would benefit you in ways that your normal cup of brew just can’t?
A way that would still provide you with the delicious smell, the morning ritual, and the pick me up… along with a little bonus.
Isn’t it funny how that sometimes the things we love most (or even the things we are more or less addicted to) don’t always serve us in the long run?
This could be anything from our addiction to certain people, to working out, or to eating too much peanut butter.
While it’s true that being addicted to something or someone might make you feel good in the moment, in the long run, it could be doing you more harm than good.
Let’s take the case of food, for example
Did you know some of the foods that bring us the most pleasure might be actually causing our bodies harm in the long run?
What I’m talking about is called a ‘food sensitivity’ bear with me and I’ll explain.
Foods to which we have a sensitivity, create a stress response in the body. The body then responds by producing endorphins (like morphine) that make us feel good, and which creates a positive feedback loop to the substance. This process can easily turn into an addiction that feeds us in the moment, yet ultimately creates damage to our body in the long run. (1)
Food sensitivities have a wide range of symptoms with everything from headaches, to bloating and even stress and anxiety, and can take up to 72 hours to show themselves.
So what does this have to do with coffee?
Coffee is one of the most addictive substances we have in the modern world, and, unfortunately it may be one of the vices that could be causing you more harm than your mind would like to believe.
